Doomsday in Brisbane~><~

This is the first time I see Desert dust storm in my life. It's surprised in this morning, when I was studying in the library.

In the meantime, many students came into the library with running noses and coughing. Outside is just like a doomsday in the world.

Steve Monforto has been coming to Phillies games since he was 3 years old, and after all that time, he finally caught his first foul ball on Tuesday night.

Then his 3-year-old daughter Emily threw it back.

It was more than just one of those many little moments in the course of a long baseball game when Jayson Werth fouled back a pitch during the bottom of the fifth inning in the Phillies' 5-0 win against Washington at Citizens Bank Park. This moment was truly Beyond Baseball.

It was the real glory of the game right there in front of you, a father hugging his little girl to assure her that she did nothing wrong, a public rite of passage to which so many parents can relate. And that is why the highlight is one of the hottest videos on MLB.com right now, and why the whole family will be on NBC's Today Show, where they will be presented with a surprise gift on Thursday morning.

"We have been inundated with calls from national and local media -- everyone wants the story because it's so heartwarming," said Bonnie Clark, the Phillies' vice president of communications, after talking today to Monforto. "The family is a great family. I talked briefly to the dad. He's been coming to Phillies games since he was 3, and now as a season-ticket holder, and he said he's never caught a foul ball. He just happened to get these seats at the last minute, took up a friend on his offer, so he sat in a different location.

"The rest is history. I told him to embrace his 15 minutes."

Watch the video, and you can see Monforto reach over the rail in the first row of 300 level seats to make nice two-handed grab. Other fans in his section were cheering. After trading fist bumps with nearby fans, Monforto high-fived Emily, who was clad in pink T-shirt and Phillies cap, and handed the ball to her. It was the natural thing for any Dad to do, right?

The Monfortos were there from Laurel Springs, N.J., and sitting a seat to Steve's right in the video is his wife, Kathleen, who has their other daughter, 15-month old Cecilia, on her lap. Kathleen's surprise reaction is visible as Emily takes that ball and fires it over the rail, to somewhere down below. Where it landed, no one knows.

"See, when she first threw it over, you know, I kind of laughed and was like, 'Oh my gosh, there it goes,'" Monforto told the local Fox TV affiliate. "But then the look on her face was that she may have done something wrong, so I wanted to let her know that ... she didn't do anything wrong."

The family was sitting near the suites of Phillies executives. Monforto said he was pleased when the club promptly delivered him a replacement ball, and this is how Clark described the scene as the Phillies went about that:

"After Emily threw the ball down, Mike Stiles [Philles senior VP of operations/administration), who sits in the executive box where our TV is, could see it happen. Mike went out to deliver a ball to her -- not the ball, but a ball -- and on his way back from their seats he was first met by Scott Palmer, who's our director of public affairs. Scott was en route to deliver one as well, and Mike indicated to him that he had already taken care of it. Then Mike was met by [general manager] Ruben Amaro, who was on his way to do the same thing.

"Everyone had the same mindset," said Clark. "We all wanted to do the same thing. Great minds think alike."

Clark said "everybody who's a parent can relate. You've been in that situation where a kid did something so innocent, you don't want to reprimand them. She thought she might have done something wrong, and he quickly reassured her that she didn't do anything wrong. Any parent can relate to the whole scenario."

Clark said Kathleen's reaction was "that she was just concerned that whoever's below them might have gotten hit. She was like, 'Did someone get hit by the ball?'"

For the record: Don't throw foul balls back.

But this was an innocent situation that people can't get enough of.

Producers at the Today Show contacted the Phillies, and the family was on its way to New York for their appearance on Thursday morning's show. Clark said the family will be presented with a surprise gift there, so expect to see it replayed again to that giant audience.

"That was a lucky catch, that I didn't drop that," Monforto said.

He has waited a long time to make a catch like that.

He had no idea what it would turn into.

ATL & BTL

ATL marketing (above the line) refers specifically to advertisements related to things people can see - i.e. wide open to your competition. For instance, ATL includes advertising in newspapers, magazines and the like.

However BTL (below the line) refers to things that happen in the background. Flyers, email marketing, word-of-mouth, inner circle marketing, etc that is not easily detected by your competition.

In other words, ATL has a higher public branding effect, BTL does not have that much of a public branding effect - ATL is often used to generate mindshare, BTL is used to generate loyalty and repeat readership.

Melbourne -- Great Ocean Road

It has been for ages I didn't write down anything on my Blog. Too many things on the new semester, it has been torturing me continuously on papers. However, I just spare few time to complete my rest of Melbourne travelling. I hope I can....^^!!!

"Great Ocean Road" is the most famous famous spot in Melbourne. Many tourists organise their itineraries, no doubt, Great Ocean Road would be involved.

For me, it is the most difficult to get up in the early morning, around 5 o'clock as well as you have to go to the assembly location. Fortunately, I could take a nap on the bus. Near Great Ocean Road, we saw beautiful Ocean coast and the driver started explaining about landscape. Now and then, the bus would pull over to let the passengers take a photograph, because some of the places are also breathtaking.

During this tour, an Aussie how sat beside me was called Blinda. She lives in Sydney, but she didn't go to Melbourne. It's astonished to me, but thinking about Melbourne and Sydney are too big to travelling all of them.

Finally, we arrived the destination, Great Ocean Road. Spectacular! Magnificent! I saw the natural power created these rock columns, twelve Apostles. Even though I couldn't recognise which one is, which one isn't...^^!!! However, the view of the coast that really really caught my eyes. You can take a look the photos.

This is a really good experience for me. Nice people, beatiful view and good weather. You sould travel here, if you come Melbourne.

Melbourne -- Victoria Market+PUFFING BILLY Steam Train

The third day in Melbourne, today was also whole day travelling.

Victoria Market is the biggest market in Melbourne. There were not only for food, vegetable, some ingredients and grocerie, but also many Art exhibition. In this market, you could feel there were several different atmosphere there. I think that's so-called exotic sells.^^.

After that, Next place was Puffing Billy that was sort of forest steam train. Actually, in Taiwan, we also have this facility, but that is located in a high mountain. Particularly, I didn't take that in Taiwan beofore..^^!!! Therefore, it made me more excited.


Before boarding, we almost couldn't get in the train, because the station oversold the tickets. However, there were not enough seats for all of the passengers. Lucky me, I found a carriage in the end and sit with a French family and Captain.
In comparison with Taiwan, many people sit in the windows and enjoy the weather. I like it! Today, the trip made me enjoy the nature in this Forest. I hope I can come here again.

Melbourne Buliding Exhibition+Museum+Gaol

After Aussie public holiday, more and more people showed up and stores were opened on the street. In the meantime, the whole city seemed to be activated. It's also distinct to the past two days. Therefore, it's a good timing to go to the Information and asked about travelling in Melbourne.

In comparison, Melbourne Information had good quality and quantity than Brisbane. However, Melbourne is also much bigger than Brisbane. Their Information was just like a travelling agency. You need to take the number ticket and were in queue. During the enquiry with the receptionist, I planned today's itinerary and for following days.

Spot 1. Melcourne Buliding Exhibition and Melbourne Museum

Unfortunately, Buliding Exhibition wasn't open, and Museum was too expensive, so I just stayed outside and took some photos. However, their bulidings were fabulous and Magnificent! I like it!

Spot 2. Melcourne Ancient Gaol Museum

I think that was the second time to go to the Gaol=Jail. Last time is when I was childhood, I went to my father's workplace and he was a police officer...ha...Don't think about I was a criminal, ok?^^!!! Everybody knows that Australia was a place where locked many prisoners from Britain. However, the circumstance has become a history now and also attracted many tourists to visit. When I got into the perison, I was astonished to see not only the British but also some Chinese, Irish and so on, many nationalities. They all locked up in this tiny and dirty Gaol, because even I was just locked up for 10 minutes; that was really uncomfortable.

After the visiting the Gaol, the Sun was also getting down. You could find the night view of Melbourne. It was spectacular. Take a look~^_^

Melbourne In Christmas and Boxing Day

It's my first time to go to another city in Australia, Melbourne. In addition, I saw the photographs from my girlfriend's album that makes me more interested in that big city. Also many people said that Melbourne is much better than Sydney.ha....^^!!! Following the articles, I will describe what I saw and what I felt.

25th December, 2008, I start my trip. In the early morning, when I arrived the Australian National Airport, there had been many people there for waiting the aircraft. I thought because of Christmas. In Australia, Christmas resembles Chinese New Year that people will go back to house with their families and celebrate together. Therefore, you will see no one on the street at Christmas. Also there won't be any stores open by the time. However, the following day is Boxing Day, you will see that people are full of the street and I am one of them, because the merchandise are more cheaper than normal days.^^!!!

It's a really special experience in Melbourne. As soon as I arrived there, I could feel the distinct atmosphere. The weather was nice, actually cool and cold, but I liked. People said there are 4 seasons in one day that is not boasting. Walking on the street, you could see that not many people there, so you would feel comfortable to visit everywhere ,except China Town. It was the place I still could confront many people. In addtion to China Town, I enjoyed visiting the buliding of Melbourne, because the buliding has been there, maybe for a century from Europe. I thought Australia is also an International country, too many different nationalities.

Tram is one of the main public transportation in Melbourne. It was different to Brisbane, Bus. Their colour and image were also vivid that was like some of their alleys.^^. I have to say, their daylight is really long. Until 9 O'clock, the sunshine is still bright.==. COOL~ Because of the high latitude in Summer.CAN'T SLEEP WELL.><

On 26th December 2008, the Boxing Day, I finally bought a pair of walking shoes which I really liked in Brisbane. I supposed I couldn't find out in Melbourne. However, after looking for 3 shoe stores, I found out and had many size and also was much cheaper.^_^. FANTASTIC!

One Day Tour by City Cat

This is City Cat. Actually, many people confuse about Cat. Why use Cat? An animal? In fact, Cat is an abbreviation of "Catamaran". It means a fast sailing boat with two hulls. It is really convenient transportation in Brisbane. Please take this if you come to Brisbane.^^

Big Storm in Brisbane

I think everybody cannot see the video well, sorry about that...ha...^^!!!But you can hear the sound is loud and severe, right?^^

However, I did not want to mention about the storm, because it is similar to Typhoon which attack many Asian countries in Summer. I have been staying in Brisbane since finishing the final examinations on 8th November....... Borning.......

Final Examination

Finally, I finish one semester desperately, because it is really a distinct feeling with Taiwanese edcational system. In the semester, I almost gave up. However, I have overcome these cumstances. I believe next semester will be harder and harder.

This is a real special experince, but it is also a very hard studying experince. There are several differences between Australia and Taiwan on education. First of all, in Australia, they separate one class into lecture and tutorial. This semester I chose IMC and Marketing Management to my subjects. Both of them made a same situation that my adept ability is making a report and doing assignments. However the final examinations were both worried, because I need to write something as the same as the national exam in Taiwan. I am really not good on this.

I think my personality is a little bit sensitive and tense, so I worried about my final examination. Although many people tell me please don't worry about that, I am still worried. However, Joanne, my girl, really relieved my anxiety peacefully. Therefore, I can confront the result without fear, actually just nervous.

Anyway, I hope I can pass this semester, and enter next semester. Furthermore, I take a summer course in the summer vacation. I wish I can focus on this subject and bring the assignments to Taiwan. Joanne~ I miss you. This time I need to study by myself.......

~September 27th 2008 - My Birthday ~

Although my birthday had passed for a long time, I want to finish this article.

~2008~ Time goes by so so so so so quick~ However, I think also because of that, I can meet her in Australia. Time is like a double-edged sword, but I have confidence to deal with it. This year, my birthday I will never forget it, because it has specific meaning for me.

Joanne, she makes many Korean meals for me, it makes me so happy. It's my first time has this feeling. By the way, Joanne, my gorgeous girlfriend, by the time, she makes these delicious foods. I really love it and also move my heart.

Especially, the Korean dry noodle that is my favorite. Ah, as well as the Korean Pancake.^_^. Today, I enjoy it. Thank you for giving me the clothes, delicious food and making this party. You are the best for me.^^

Today, I make a wish, I keep these on my mind. I hope it will be come true. ^^ I think you know what I make^^~ha~^^

First Semester

During this around 2 more months, finally I understand why people said it's like a life in a hell. No matter the assignment is important or not, 1,500~2,000 words are the essential volume. Therefore, almost I had a bad idea that was buying a flight ticket from Brisbane to Taipei.==; This idea just appeared for 1 minute, because I think I should overcome this circumstance, because I have overcomed many exams and finally get this consequence.

Actually, I did not sleep well recently, because it is near the end of semester, many assignments have to submit before the due date. Under the pressure is my life and circumstance now. Yesterday, I handed over my one of the assignments. It's so relax, however, it's just a few minutes break, because next week will have meeting exam and two assignments that need to submit, too. Anyway, I am happy to achieve one, even still have many......

Now~ there is a girl who support me a lot.^^. I am really happy. Thank you~^^ It makes me more confident and relax.

Almost near the end of the semester, therefore I get more and more exams and assignments. I hope I can overcome this semester and welcome next.

晚上6：30 台北車站人正多的時候，公車人都塞的滿滿滿，尤其是3x7

我跟朋友兩個人帶著要用來做結力作業的材料上了人擠人的公車，

其中有一根長大約 一米 六的鋁管，

因為人多到不行，我們只好把它直立著放，並一起抓好不讓它倒下。
雖然這裡不是黑特，不過還是想幹譙一下：

3x7的司機，你可不可以車上塞滿了人就不要在飆車了!!

飆車就算了，技術也好一點，不要闖個紅燈還不上不下的!!

故事是在一個紅綠燈發生的，

爛司機為了趕那剩3秒的綠燈，剛剛擠上車的女學生還來不及站穩，車就飆出去了。

好死不死，闖燈失敗，司機就非常豪邁的緊急煞車，

各位想像一下，一輛公車從急衝到急停，會發生什麼事情？

就是全部人都往前面擠!!!

剛剛那個剛上車的女學生，情急之下，順手就抓著我跟朋友握著的那根鋁管....

我還來不及跟她說：

那不是扶手 那不是扶手 那不是扶手 那不是扶手 那不是扶手那不是扶手那不是扶手

結果她，就成為壓死駱駝的最後一根稻草，夾帶著全車站著的人的重量，

我、朋友+她 三個人狠狠的往擋風玻璃撞去....

慌亂之中，我們還把收零錢那個箱子給拆了....

這都不是重點，重點是：

當我好不容易恢復過來，想問問那位女同學有沒有怎麼樣，

她應該是驚嚇過度，又或者是有哪裡受傷了，整個人臉色蒼白，

而且因為跌成一團，整個裙子都往上翻到天上去....

朋友基於禮貌想提醒她一下就跟我說了兩個字"內褲"

我本來要問出口的：同學，妳的臉色好白，有沒有怎麼樣？

不知道為什麼變成：同學，妳的內褲好白，有沒有怎麼樣？

我只能低著頭，抓著歪曲的鋁管和連根拔起的零錢箱，

忍受著眾人異樣的眼光、和女同學尷尬的氣氛下，一直到下車。

直到下車時，司機大喊：

同學，你要把我吃飯的東西帶去哪裡 ........
